Hello,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jessie Porter, owner of Twisted Orchid Beauty Supply in Terrace. Being the sole proprietor, I take care of ordering, website & data entries, billing, receiving, scheduling, training courses, flyer & sale creation, and all the other things it takes to run this type of business. It’s a very full load, but I love it and I’m fortunate to have a couple great staff members to help out in the store!
As a licensed hair stylist living in the northern part of British Columbia, I was often met with challenges when it came to getting professional products & supplies I needed. Ordering from companies farther away can take days or weeks and those shipping costs can really add up. Personally, I always felt the need to place large orders to keep my supplies stocked up so I wouldn’t have to stress about running out of anything. But there were plenty of times over the years when I would think I had another tube of colour or tub of bleach, but quickly realized I had already used the last one! Or, a colour correction would use more product than expected, leaving me scrambling to find another stylist I could borrow a few scoops of lightener from. I would spend so much money on stock making sure I had a few of every color available just in case, leaving me with a lot of overstock of seldom used colours and crowded shelves.
Now with a store here in town, our customers can purchase products as they need them, thus saving money on shipping charges and not overstocking seldom used products. They can rest easy knowing that the items they need are only a few mins away, instead of a few days. We try to charge the same prices for the same products other distributors also carry, as we get “suggested prices” from those brands, even though our shipping costs are a lot higher for us up here in the North.
We have researched and explored many different product lines, offering you products that we can stand behind with their quality and company ethics (we strive to only carry Cruelty Free brands). There are some popular brands that many of you use which we are not able to carry due to those larger brands having contracts with other distributors in BC. However, I am always on the search for new brands and exciting products to bring in for you!
In saying this, I realize that many of you are loyal to the product brands you use, and that’s ok. So we would like to ask that you think of us when you need supplies we do carry, such as foil, gloves, wax, combs, etc. Check out our list of products and brands we carry, some of which you may use and not realize we carry. If there are things you regularly use that we don’t have, please let us know and we will do our best to bring them in for you.
We appreciate when customers who seldom shop with us drop by to grab that “emergency item”. We would like to ask for your support. We want to be able to keep our doors open, keep our shelves stocked, and grow our range of supplies we offer to you, so we need all the support from salons we can get! If you find it difficult to make it into our store, we offer free delivery in Terrace, $14.99 flat rate shipping to other areas, online shopping, or call us with your order and we can have it ready for pickup. We are also starting our new service to soon (see Announcement letter in "To You, From Us") We are quite flexible if you need something outside of our regular business hours.
