High-level disinfection is recommended for semi-critical tools or implements, that come in contact with mucous membranes or non-intact skin during use, but do not ordinarily penetrate the skin or enter normally sterile areas of the body. In personal service settings, this can include tools such as resuable foot files, tweezers used for ingrown hairs, microblade handles, nail clippers and cuticle pushers, or needle holders. Health Canada is responsible for oversight of high-level disinfectant label claims and has approved the re-use of PREempt™ CS20 for 14 days. Exceptions to this allowance occur if the solution is visibly soiled, or if the indicator strip fails to produce the required measurement. In these cases, the solution should be discarded even if the 14-day period has not yet been reached
